Polestar 2

Polestar is Volvo’s luxury platform for specifically built electric vehicles, designed for those who prefer the classic sporty saloon. Of course, every premium brand now offers an EV, but many of them feel like battery-powered versions of existing vehicles. Polestar hopes to provide the conventional clean-sheet approach that all-electric vehicles should have, but with the depth of engineering, you’d expect from the established manufacturer, Volvo. The companies first electric vehicle, was the Polestar 1, a luxury grand-tourer plug-in hybrid that cost over £120,000! Since then, the company has produced a much more accessible model, the Polestar 2. A fully electric vehicle designed similarly to the sporty versions of the Tesla model 3, and priced at a much more respectful cash price of £40,000.

The Polestar 2 has been designed for the kind of customer who prefers the conventional premium sports saloon. As such, the technical details & engineering performance look exceptional. The top-spec of the Polestar 2 offers a dual-motor AWD drivetrain with a whopping 408BHP and a top speed of 140mph. The Polestar 2 also offers 660 Nm of torque that provides a towing capacity of over 3000lbs! Now you may be thinking with all this power, the range may have been sacrificed? This is not the case as the Polestar 2 features a hefty 70 kWh battery with a 300kW electric motor to give a driving range of up to 300 miles. This is typical across all specs of the Polestar 2, with the mid-range models capable of traveling up to 335 miles, and the standard range base models capable of traveling up to 273 miles.
