The Tesla Model Y, the companies very first compact SUV. Around 10% larger than the model 3, this 5 seater hatch is the perfect family vehicle with a spacious interior and an extendable 1,869-litre boot capacity, if you fold the rear seats down. As with all Tesla models, the Tesla Model Y has been designed for the future, with smart technology that makes your driving experience more practical & comfortable than ever before. The Tesla Model Y features the Tesla All-Wheel Drive system, which has two ultra-responsive, independent electric motors that digitally direct torque to the front and rear wheels for significantly improved handling, traction, and stability control. As a result, the Model Y can handle rain, snow, mud, and off-road conditions. The increase in size from the Model 3 does come with the added weight of the vehicle, increasing the total weight to 4,416lbs on the Model Y. This does not deter from the performance however, with a 0-60mph time of just 3.5 seconds, plus up to 330 miles of range & an impressive charging time of 162 miles in just 15 minutes.
Inside, there are few differences from the Model 3, with the dash and interior of the car essentially identical. The only major difference is that the panoramic glass roof is larger. As is customary on a Tesla, the front is dominated by a massive centre infotainment touchscreen that manages the majority of technical aspects of the car. There are essentially no physical buttons in the cabin, with almost everything handled via the touchscreen infotainment system, which is sharp to look at and as simple to operate as ever. If you’re hoping for a premium branded model in this category, the build quality and material specificity may not be what you’re looking for, but it’s on level with competitors like the Audi Q4 e-Tron or the Mustang Mach-E.
